Sofie Aerts is a PhD student at UHasselt, currently involved in a project at Noorderhart focused on enhancing prognostication in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) through the development of a mixed-methods tool for treatment strategy and prognosis evaluation. Previous experience includes a Senior Master Internship at Noorderhart, where insights were gained on the effects of Cladribine on MS patients, as well as participation in data collection and management for a new research platform. Earlier internships at Ziekenhuis Oost-Limburg and Jessa Ziekenhuis provided exposure to the characteristics of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in Type 2 Diabetes and outcomes after cardiothoracic surgery, respectively. Aerts holds a Master's degree in Clinical Biomedical Sciences and a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences, both from Hasselt University.
