James L. Donald has served as an independent director of Nordstrom since 2014. James is a retired Vice Admiral of the United States Navy, where they served for over 35 years. In their final assignment, they were the Commander, Naval Surface Forces and Surface Force Atlantic. James also served as the Senior Military Assistant to the Secretary of the Navy. Prior to their military career, Donald worked as an investment representative for Edward Jones and as a registered principal for MetLife. James has a bachelor's degree in political science from the U.S. Naval Academy and a master's degree in business administration from Harvard Business School.
