Lauren Mcgarry is a Curriculum Specialist at NoRedInk. Lauren has also worked as a Senior Language Arts Curriculum Designer at IXL Learning from July 2017 to November 2021. In this role, they were responsible for managing the addition of audio to explanations for PK–2 problem sets, which included redesigning explanations to leverage audio, planning resource and behavior changes needed to accommodate recordings, communicating updates to software engineers, coaching voice actor on pronunciation and pacing, and overseeing the upload and testing of recordings. Lauren has also designed and written materials that prepare PK–12 students to meet specific educational goals, edited written content for grade-level appropriateness, educational value, accuracy, grammar, and style, ensured content is accessible and interesting to a variety of students, and that content reflects the diversity of our users. Lauren has also provided accessible explanations of ELA concepts for responses to Tech Support questions and maintained a document of ELA team writing conventions, informed by the Chicago Manual of Style and by conventions of writing for young readers.

Lauren Mcgarry has a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Linguistics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, a Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics (Honors) from Georgetown University, and a CIEE Russian Language Program certificate from St. Petersburg State University.
