María Laguía has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. María started their career as a Hospital Clinical Analyst at Hospital Alcazar de San Juán in 2014, where they gained experience in microbiology, hematology, and other areas of the clinical laboratory. María then worked as a Research Scientist at Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, focusing on the study of stomata development regulation using arabidopsis lines.

In 2015, María joined the John Innes Centre as an ERASMUS Research Scientist, where they performed photography, microscopy, and image analysis with bioinformatics programs.
