Mariia Stepanova

Materials Engineer And Data Analyst at Norsk Titanium

Mariia Stepanova has worked in a variety of roles since 2008. Mariia began as a Process Engineer at ELAR, a producer of charge coupled devices (CCD). In 2011, they moved to NT-SPb, a producer of scanning probe microscopes (SPM), where they worked as a Customer Support Engineer, providing user support and training and developing user manuals for new SPM systems and laboratory works. From 2013 to 2017, they were a PhD research Fellow at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), where they developed Zn-rich layers for Al extruded tubing for improved corrosion resistance in heat-exchange applications. Her findings are now used by Hydro AS. Mariia also applied electrochemical methods and advanced surface characterization techniques. From 2017 to 2021, Mariia was a Postdoctoral Fellow at NTNU, where they advanced the characterization of magnetic nanoscale structures and developed novel read-out methods for their detection in device-relevant geometries. Mariia also supervised, mentored and trained PhD students. Currently, Mariia is a Materials Engineer and Data Analyst at Norsk Titanium.

Mariia Stepanova's education history began in 1996 when they attended 272 gymnasium and graduated in 2004 with a High School degree. Mariia then attended Saint Petersburg State Electrotechnical University "LETI" from 2004 to 2008 where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Electronics and Microelectronics. Mariia continued their studies at the same university from 2008 to 2010 and earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Nanotechnology and Diagnostics. Mariia then attended LUT University from 2010 to 2011 and earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Technical Physics.
