Kimberly Mielcarek

Kimberly Mielcarek has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Kimberly began their career at Gannett Newspapers in 1988, where they served as a Copy Editor and Features Editor until 1997. From 1997 to 2002, they worked as the European Editor for D-Day Stars and Stripes Newspaper. In 2006, they joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as the Chief of Public Affairs in Baghdad, Iraq, a position they held until 2008. Following that, they worked as a Senior Communications Strategist at L-3 MPRI from 2008 to 2010. Since 2010, they have been with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), initially serving as the Director of Communications and currently as the Vice President of Communications.

Kimberly Mielcarek obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Texas A&M University between 1984 and 1988. Their field of study during this period was English and Political Science.

The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) is a not-for-profit international regulatory authority whose mission is to assure the reliability and security of the bulk power system in North America. NERC develops and enforces Reliability Standards; annually assesses seasonal and long‐term reliability; monitors the bulk power system through system awareness; and educates, trains, and certifies industry personnel. NERC’s area of responsibility spans the continental United States, Canada, and the northern portion of Baja California, Mexico. NERC is the electric reliability organization for North America, subject to oversight by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and governmental authorities in Canada. NERC’s jurisdiction includes users, owners, and operators of the bulk power system, which serves more than 334 million people.
