William Childs

William Childs is an experienced fiscal professional specializing in budget management and analysis. Currently serving as Budget Officer at the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts since March 2024, Childs previously held the position of Director of Budget and Planning at the NC Office of Indigent Defense Services. With extensive experience at the Fiscal Research Division of the NCGA as Principal Fiscal Analyst, Childs led the Justice and Public Safety Team focusing on the budget for the Adult Correction system. Earlier roles include Policy Analyst at the Legislative Budget Board, where Childs provided research and recommendations to enhance budget efficiency, and Senior Policy Analyst at the Public Utility Commission of Texas, overseeing the public interest in the deregulated utility market. Childs holds a Master of Public Policy from Duke University and a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy and English from The University of Alabama.
