Dan Hirschman

Senior Deputy Attorney General, Division Head at NC Department of Justice

Dan Hirschman has a diverse work experience spanning from 1999 to the present. Dan began their career as an Associate Attorney at the Southern Environmental Law Center, where they litigated environmental cases and provided testimony at public hearings. Dan then worked as an Attorney at the Rosen Law Firm, managing and independently litigating domestic cases. Afterward, they joined the Office of the Solicitor at the US Department of the Interior as an Attorney-Advisor, advising on legal matters and national policy related to water and power issues affecting Indian tribes. Dan later joined the NC Department of Justice, Environmental Division, where they held various roles, including Assistant Attorney General, Special Deputy Attorney General, and Senior Deputy Attorney General, overseeing legal and administrative functions, rendering legal opinions, and conducting litigation. Dan'sresponsibilities included advising and representing different divisions and programs within the NC Department of Justice, such as the Land, Groundwater, and Waste Section, the NC Brownfields Program, and the DEQ's Hazardous Waste Section.
