Lauren Applebaum is the Jim & Betty Becher Curator of American Art at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Lauren has also served as the Associate Curator of American Art at the Toledo Museum of Art and the Graduate Curatorial Intern for Modern & Contemporary Art at the Toledo Museum of Art. Lauren received their Ph.D. in Art Theirtory from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2018 and their B.A. in Theirtory of Art and Architecture from Harvard University in 2010.
Lauren Applebaum has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Art Theirtory from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Lauren also has a MA in Art Theirtory from Hunter College and a BA in Comparative Literature & Art Theirtory from the University of Colorado Boulder.
They work with Michele Frederick - Associate Curator of European Art & Provenance Research, Caroline Rocheleau - Curator of Ancient Art & Director of Research, and Ángel González López - Research Curator of Ancient American Art. Lauren Applebaum reports to Linda Dougherty, Chief Curator & Curator of Contemporary Art.
