Linda Dougherty

Chief Curator & Curator of Contemporary Art at North Carolina Museum of Art

Linda Dougherty is the current Chief Curator and Curator of Contemporary Art at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Linda has worked as an independent curator and art consultant since 1993, and has also held positions at the National Gallery of Art, The Phillips Collection, and the National Museum of American Art. Linda began their career in the arts as a Program Coordinator at the Arlington Arts Center in 1985.

Linda Dougherty has a Master's Degree in Art Linda'story, Criticism and Conservation from Williams College and a Bachelor's Degree in Art Linda'story, Criticism and Conservation from Wesleyan University.

Linda Dougherty reports to Valerie Hillings, Director & CEO. They are on a team with Jenny Crow - Business & Personnel Officer, Angela Lombardi - Director of Outreach & Audience Engagement, and Perry Hurt - Director of Conservation. Some direct reports include Lyle Humphrey - Associate Curator of European Art & Collections Linda'story, Lauren Applebaum - Jim & Betty Becher Curator of American Art, and Michele Frederick - Associate Curator of European Art & Provenance Research.
