Paul D. Brinkman is a prominent figure in the field of environmental humanities and paleontology, currently serving as the Head of the Environmental Humanities Research Lab and Curator of Special Collections at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences since June 2006. Brinkman also holds the position of Interim Director for Research & Collections and has previously served as the Assistant Director of the Paleontology & Geology Research Lab. In addition to museum work, Brinkman is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the History Department at North Carolina State University, teaching courses on the history of science and leading a study abroad program in the Galápagos Islands. Furthermore, Brinkman has maintained a role as a Research Associate at The Field Museum since 2003, focusing on research related to the museum's history. Brinkman earned a Doctor of Philosophy in History and Philosophy of Science and Technology from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Geography from Augustana College.
