Kevin Baxter

Kevin Baxter is the Vice Chancellor & Chief Campus Office for NCSSM-Morganton and joined the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in January 2017. Kevin's career has largely centered on Honors education -- first at the University of Maryland and then at East Carolina University -- where he designed, built, and grew special programs and communities for talented scholars. This work led him to his current role at NCSSM, where since 2017 he has led the development and opening of the 18th campus of the UNC System at NCSSM-Morganton.

Kevin is deeply engaged in Burke County and throughout Western North Carolina. He is currently Chairman of the Board of C2Life Foundation, and serves as a board member with the Burke County Chamber of Commerce and Food Matters Market & Cafe, on the grants committee of the WNC Bridge Foundation, and on the steering team for the Industrial Commons Innovation Campus. He and his family have established roots in Morganton and are thrilled to be part of such a diverse and resilient community in the foothills of WNC.
