Matty Rafik

Matty Rafik is a seasoned Principal Drilling Engineer with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, currently working at North Oil Company Qatar since August 2021, where notable achievements include the design and execution of multiple ultra extended reach wells, notably the longest Upper Mauddud well in the Al-Shaheen field, as well as developing abandonment standards. Prior experience at Shell spanned from 2013 to 2021, encompassing roles such as Well Engineer, Senior Drilling Supervisor, and Field Coach, contributing to record-breaking well performances, HSE improvements, and innovative drilling solutions in challenging environments. Matty's earlier career included positions at NAM BV Assen and OilSERV, focusing on cementing engineering and high-profile drilling projects. Matty holds a BEng (Hons) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham and A Levels in Maths, Chemistry, and Economics from Radyr Comprehensive School.
