Lee Schaefer is the current SVP Chief Human Resources Officer at Northeast Credit Union. Lee has previously worked as the Senior Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer at Alliant Credit Union from January 2003 to November 2020. During their time there, they led the Human Capital, Legal, Compliance, Audit, and Real Estate teams. As a member of the executive team reporting to the CEO, Schaefer developed and executed Alliant's mission, vision, values, and strategy- which included significant transformation initiatives to move from a traditional single-sponsored institution to a nation-wide digital banking platform. Schaefer was also the first Chief Human Resources Officer at Alliant Credit Union and developed the people-centric culture and talent strategies. Additionally, they created the Office of Legal Counsel and a separate Compliance department while they were at Alliant. Prior to their time at Alliant, Schaefer worked as the Director of Human Resources at Baxter Healthcare from January 1995 to December 2002. Before their career in Human Resources, Schaefer worked as an attorney for AT&T's Labor & Litigation department from January 1993 to December 1995.
Lee Schaefer has a JD from Cornell Law School and a BA from Willamette University. Lee also has a certification from Harvard Business School in Leveraging Fintech Innovation to Grow and Compete. Lastly, they have a certification from the ARDC in Illinois Law License.
Lee Schaefer reports to Tim Collia, President/CEO. They are on a team with Andrea Pruna - SVP Chief Marketing & Retail Officer, Susan Hannigan - SVP Chief Financial Officer, and Ana Foret - SVP Chief Risk Officer.
