Tom Gilbert is an Associate Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Northeastern University, where tenure began in September 1981. Gilbert served as Acting Dean of the School of Education from 2004 to 2006 and held the position of Academic Director for Professional Science Masters Programs in Biotechnology from 2009 to 2011. Additionally, Gilbert contributed to the American Chemical Society as a member of the Board of Directors from 2013 to 2016, representing District I. Prior to academia, Gilbert worked at the New England Aquarium, rising from Research Associate to Associate Director for Research from August 1971 to September 1981. Educational credentials include a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Chemistry from Clarkson University.
