Melba A. has been with Northern Essex Community College since 1994, currently serving as the Director of Instructional Technology & Online Learning. In addition to their role at NECC, Melba also co-chairs the Accessible Media Team and teaches Computer Information Science courses. Melba has a Master's degree in Instructional Design and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education.

Subject areas include liberal and performing arts, sciences,education, criminal justice, deaf studies, paralegalstudies, businessand health-related fields among others.NECC’s students may earn a career-based degree intended to prepare themfor the workforce or a degree in preparation for a transfer to afour-year university.A combination of high school aged, young adult and mature adult studentsattend NECC. Since students’ needs and educational backgrounds differthere are classes to meet a range of interests. In addition to standardacademics, there are developmental classes in basic skills, courses forprofessionals who wish to improve work skills and classes of personalinterest.Schedules are also designed to meet the various needs and lifestyles ofNECC’s students, with classes offered during the day, in the evening andonline, with part-time and full-time options available.Student life also caters to a range of interests and includes anambassador program, student government, community service options andprofessional, cultural, creative and religious organizations.Applications for admission may be obtained at one of NECC’s informationsessions which prospective students are required to attend.Financial aid is available to those who qualify and can be used to helpcover tuition.
