Alek Gasiel is an experienced professional with a diverse background in both geographical information systems (GIS) and finance. Currently serving as a GIS Intern for the Research and Innovation Team at the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning since June 2021, Alek previously held positions as a Teachers Assistant/Grader/Research Assistant within the Geography Department at Northern Illinois University, and as a GIS Intern for the Village of Carol Stream, where projects included data collection and analysis. Alek’s finance career spans over two decades, including roles as an Investment Risk Consultant and Investment Performance Analyst at Northern Trust Corporation, a Senior Research Analyst at Barrington Research Associates, and various analytical positions at organizations such as Chicago Asset Management Company and Morgan Stanley/Van Kampen. Alek holds multiple degrees, including an M.S. in Geography and a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Analysis, as well as an M.B.A. in Economics and Finance.
