Stephen Van Der Mark is an accomplished professional in environmental conservation and Indigenous land management, currently serving as the Branch Manager for Caring for Country at the Northern Land Council since November 2019. With responsibilities that include managing the largest Indigenous land and sea management program in Australia, Stephen oversees a team of 150 staff and an annual cash flow of $27 million. Previous roles include Program Manager at Kimberley Land Council, Principal Program and Policy Officer at the Office of Environment and Heritage in New South Wales, and CEO of the Australian Land Conservation Alliance. Stephen also has extensive international experience, having held positions such as Director of the FFI-Cambodia Country Program and Senior Technical Specialist in West Africa. Educational qualifications include an MSc in environmental conservation from Wageningen University & Research and secondary education from RSG Tiel.
