David Klingen

CEO at Northern Wonder

David Klingen has a diverse work experience in the sustainable and food industry. David started their career as an independent Sustainability Consultant, focusing on making connections in the food business. David then worked as a Manager of Sustainability at both C1000 and Jumbo Supermarkten, where they improved corporate responsibility strategies and coordinated sustainability projects.

In 2013, Klingen founded their own company called Klingen. Additionally, they worked as a Coordinator of Events at the Food Film Festival and as a Business Developer at Faduca, focusing on value-adding processing in developing countries.

Klingen also contributed to the magazine Tijdschrift De Helling as an Editorial Board Member and worked as a Quality Expert at Marqt, a Dutch supermarket chain specializing in Real Food.

In 2016, Klingen co-founded Chikko Not Coffee, a company that produces coffee-like drinks from local plants to combat deforestation caused by traditional coffee production. Additionally, they co-founded and served as a Non-Executive Director and later CEO of Ghee Easy B.V., a global player in organic ghee production.

Most recently, Klingen became the CEO of Northern Wonder - Coffee Free Coffee, an organization that aims to tackle deforestation caused by coffee plantations.

Throughout their career, Klingen has demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental conservation in the food industry.

David Klingen completed their Pre-university Education at Vrije School Zeist from 1997 to 2003, specializing in the subject cluster of Science and Health. From 2004 to 2009, they attended the University of Amsterdam where they earned a First-Year Diploma in Bachelor Society and Behaviour in 2004-2005. David continued their studies at the same university, completing their MA in Political Science and International Relations from 2004 to 2009. In 2008-2009, they also attended BKB Academie, specializing in Campaigning.
