Heather Burns has over 23 years of work experience. Heather started their career in 1997 as a Recruiter at Citibank and then transitioned to NorthWestern Energy in 1998. At NorthWestern Energy, they held various roles including Human Resources Specialist, Coordinator Team Member Services, Human Resources Manager, and ultimately Director Human Resources. In their most recent role, they were responsible for strategic workforce development, organization culture development, diversity equity & inclusion, workforce planning and development, succession planning, organization development, leadership development, strategic employee communication, talent management, and talent analytics. Heather provided strategic leadership to functions including Human Resources, Employee Communication, and Training & Development.
Heather Burns completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of South Dakota in 1993. Heather continued their education and obtained a Master of Science degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha between 1995 and 1997. In 2011, Heather pursued a Graduate program in Energy Executive from the University of Idaho. Additionally, they hold certifications in areas such as Certified Change Practitioner, Myers Briggs, SHRM - Senior Certified Professional, and Targeted Selection.
