Vanessa Barboza is a Brazilian social justice activist and leader. Vanessa is currently working as an analyst at NOSSAS, a Brazilian organization that helps women who have experienced gender-based violence. Vanessa has also worked as a senior mobilizer at Nossas, leading the Mapa do Acolhimento project, which connects women who have experienced or are experiencing gender-based violence with psychologists and lawyers who are willing to help them on a voluntary basis.
Before their work at Nossas, Vanessa was an entrepreneur at Baoba - Fundo Para Equidade Racial, where they were supported by the Marielle Franco Women's Leadership Acceleration Program to develop consultancy services for projects and leaders belonging to social impact organizations such as the Evangelical Black Women's Network and the Evangelical Black Movement. Vanessa's work focuses on education, training and social mobilization for the human rights of the black population.
Vanessa has also worked as a teacher at Universidade de Pernambuco - UPE and as a political and pedagogical advisor at Instituto Solidare. Vanessa began their career as a social services coordinator at Rede de Mulheres Negras Evangélicas.
Vanessa Barboza has a Bachelor's degree in Social Service from UFPE, a Master's degree in Education, Cultures and Identities from Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco, a Master's degree in Social Service from Universidade Estadual da Paraíba, and a Doctorate in Religion Studies from Universidade Metodista de São Paulo.
