Elie Safar

Elie Safar is a Lebanese national who has been working in the field of auditing and risk management for over 15 years. Elie is currently the University Internal Auditor at Notre Dame University-Louaize.

Elie started their career in auditing with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Beirut, Lebanon. Elie then moved to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) to join Business Risk Advisory Services. In January 2008, they took on the role of Group Head of Internal Audit with SAKR POWER GENERATION (SPG), where they established the group's internal audit activity and introduced the risk-based approach to internal auditing.

In addition to their work in auditing, Elie has also served in various governance roles. Elie has chaired the Project Management Office (PMO) Steering Committee to oversee more than 800 change management initiatives and the Corporate Governance Task Force, as a result of which the Corporate Governance Document was issued, setting the boundaries and defining the roles of the Board, Board Committees, Chairman, and CEO. Elie has also served on the Human Resources (HR) Committee, reviewing new and revised HR policies and procedures.

Elie Safar has a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from the American University of Beirut, a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management, General from the American University of Beirut, and certifications from the Lebanese Association of Certified Public Accountants (LACPA) as a Lebanese Certified Public Accountant (LCPA), from the New Hampshire Board of Accountancy, USA as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and from The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc. as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and as Accreditation in Internal Quality Assessment / Validation.
