RN Clinical Research Coordinator Lead at Nova Scotia Health Authority

Debby Adara RN, BSN has a strong background in clinical research, education, and leadership. Debby currently serves as the Lead Clinical Research Coordinator RN at Nova Scotia Health Authority since April 2022. Prior to this, from June 2022 to December 2022, they worked as a Nurse SME at Aptara.

Earlier in their career, Debby worked at the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital Complex from September 2005 to March 2022. During this time, they held various roles, including Clinical Nurse Educator (March 2019 to March 2022), Clinical Lead (January 2016 to February 2019), Clinical Research Manager (January 2013 to December 2015), Senior Clinical Research Coordinator (January 2010 to December 2012), Senior Nursing Officer (January 2008 to December 2009), and Registered Nurse (September 2005 to December 2007).

In addition to their work at the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital Complex, Debby also worked at NDHS as a Research Project Lead from May 2018 to December 2018, further enhancing their research experience.

Debby Adara RN, BSN has a diverse education history in the field of healthcare. Debby completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Edinburgh Napier University and obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Paediatric Nursing from Lagos University Teaching Hospital School of Post Basic Nursing Studies. In addition, Debby Adara also attended the Nova Scotia Learning Institute for Health Care Providers to become a Registered Nurse.

Debby Adara's education journey also includes a General Nursing degree from Ondo State School of Nursing. Debby further pursued their interest in clinical research by attending the CRA School of Montreal, Canada, where they completed a postgraduate program in Clinical Research.

Apart from their nursing education, Debby Adara has also engaged in board governance studies at Dalhousie University and leadership training at the Daystar Leadership Academy, earning an Advanced Certificate and a Certificate in Leadership, respectively.

To complement their education, Debby Adara has obtained additional certifications. These include Global Event Adjudication Readiness from Novo Nordisk, Good Clinical Practice and Health Canada Division 5 from the CITI Program, Advanced EDC for Site Users and Safety Dataflow from Medidata Solutions, and Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research involving Humans Course (TCPS2: CORE) from the Panel on Research Ethics.

Additionally, Debby Adara has acquired important healthcare certifications such as Mental Health First Aid from the Mental Health Commission of Canada and Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Trainer and Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation/Life Support from the Paediatric Association of Nigeria. Debby has also completed courses on Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) from the Canadian Red Cross Society and EDC Essentials for Clinical Research Coordinators from Medidata Solutions. Finally, they are a Registered Nurse recognized by the Nova Scotia College of Nursing and a Registered Paediatric Nurse acknowledged by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
