Sara Witzell has a diverse work experience that spans over several industries. Sara began their career in 2007 as a Visual Merchandiser at Sportchek, where they worked until 2010. From there, they transitioned to East Side Orthopaedics and served as a Kinesiology Assistant from 2010 to 2011. Following this, Sara Witzell joined the Cape Breton Regional Municipality as a 911 Communications Operator/Emergency Dispatcher from 2011 to 2016. Sara then moved on to Nova Scotia Health Authority, where they started as a Sonographer in 2016. Sara later took on the role of Stroke Program Coordinator from 2022 to 2023, and they currently hold the position of OPOR Clinical Interprofessional Lead.
Sara Witzell pursued their education in a chronological order. Sara completed their Bachelor of Science degree with Honors at St. Francis Xavier University from 2009 to 2011, majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry and Calculus. From 2007 to 2009, they studied at Cape Breton University and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.
In 2015 and 2016, Sara attended the Canadian National Institute of Health, where they earned a Diploma with Honors in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Sara also obtained additional certifications during this time, becoming a Canadian Registered Generalist Sonographer (CRGS) through Sonography Canada and a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through ARDMS in August 2016.
Currently, Sara is pursuing a Master of Health Studies degree with a specialization in Health Leadership at Athabasca University, starting in 2019.
