Steffen Lang

Steffen Lang is a senior executive at Novartis, serving as a Member of the Executive Committee and President of Operations since May 2009. In this role, Steffen oversees the company’s manufacturing, quality, supply, data and digital technology, procurement, environmental sustainability, and facility services, while also driving simplification and digitalization initiatives. Previously, Steffen held positions as Global Head of Novartis Technical Operations, Global Head of Biologics Technical Development and Manufacturing, and Global Head of Technical Research and Development, leading a global team of over 2,000 associates across nine sites. Steffen's career at Novartis began in 1994 with a role as Head of the Laboratory in Research. Steffen holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Technology from ETH Zürich and has furthered education at Harvard Business School, London Business School, and Heidelberg University.
