John Kutney has a diverse work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. John started their career at Merck in 2002 as a Staff Engineer, providing process support for the purification of live virus vaccines. John later supported the mammalian cell culture process for a startup bulk facility. John then joined Talecris Biotherapeutics in 2005 as an Engineer IV. In 2009, they returned to Merck as a Senior Engineer and later became an Associate Director of Operations, focusing on end-to-end value stream capacity analysis. In 2014, John joined Novavax Inc as an Associate Director of Manufacturing, progressing to Director, Senior Director, and eventually Vice President of Manufacturing.
John Kutney attended the University of Notre Dame from 1998 to 2002, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Prior to that, they completed their high school education at St. Xavier High School from 1994 to 1998. In addition to their formal education, John also obtained a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from Merck in 2011.
