Zong Ye Wu has a diverse range of work experience. They started their career in 2009 as a High School Research Assistant at the UCSF Diabetes Center, where they monitored the longetivity of various genotypes of Drosophila Melanogaster and conducted measurements on them. Then, from 2012 to 2014, Wu worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Schekman Lab, UC Berkeley, where they purified and characterized different isoforms of COPII coat proteins.
In 2014, Wu became a PhD Candidate in the Lo Lab at UC Davis, researching the role of Tensins in lung function and disease. They modified existing protocols for their research, used CRISPR and transfection to generate knockout and overexpression cell lines, respectively. After completing their PhD, Wu worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, Davis - School of Medicine from September 2018 to January 2019.
Since March 2019, Wu has been working at Novogene America, initially as a Lab Technologist for a month and then as a Laboratory Manager. In this role, they managed and directed lab operations to ensure high-quality NGS services and improved workflow integration to reduce product turnaround time by 31%. They gained hands-on experience with Illumina HiSeq and NovaSeq 6000 platforms and troubleshooting.
Currently, Wu holds the position of Overseas Lab Director at Novogene America, a role they started in August 2021. No end date has been provided for this role.
Zong Ye Wu pursued their education with determination and dedication, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Davis. Zong Ye successfully completed their Ph.D. studies from 2014 to 2018. Before their doctoral studies, Zong Ye Wu completed their Bachelor's Degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, where they studied from 2010 to 2014.
