Usman Kamran

Usman Kamran has over seven years of experience in software development and data science. In 2021, they joined NowVertical Group Inc. as Technical Product Lead for NOW Origin and Solutions Architect & Technical Lead for Integra, which was acquired by NowVertical in August 2021. At Integra, they provided technical leadership and a forward-thinking mentality in transforming data science projects into scalable software solutions. In 2018, they were Technology Development Manager at Enviromakers. In 2019, they were Software Engineer Intern at Talkatoo and Solutions Architect & Technical Lead at Integra. In 2016, they were Scientific Collaborator at RareShare, where they developed an online medical database for patients with rare genetic diseases. In 2014, they were Android/Arduino Developer at NeuroArm Surgical Limited. In 2013, they were Neuroscience Researcher/Software Developer at Hotchkiss Brain Institute, where they spearheaded the development and programming of innovative motion sensing platforms to quantify the stress response of optogenetically stimulated mice. Usman also developed a wireless, portable photoplethysmograph interfacing with Processing and Arduino software for intuitive, accurate pulse rate readings viewable on laptops and Android phones.

Usman Kamran completed their Bachelor of Applied Science - BASc in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Dalhousie University. Usman then went on to pursue a Bachelor's degree from the University of Calgary with a Dual Concentration in Energy Sciences & Biological Sciences and a Minor in Nanoscience.
