Chief Technology Officer and Founder at Noze

Ashok Prabhu Masilamani has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Ashok Prabhu is the Chief Technology Officer and Founder of Noze, a digital olfaction platform utilizing a combination of innovative chemo-receptor array chip and machine learning algorithms for scent identification. Ashok Prabhu also worked as a Mentor at Founder Institute, advising and guiding aspiring entrepreneurs. Ashok has served as an Advisor at Variense and held the position of Entrepreneur In Residence at TandemLaunch Inc. In addition, they have contributed to the growth of Applied Nanotools as a Member of the Board of Directors and Chief Technology Officer. Ashok Prabhu'srole involved overseeing technology directions, building and managing the technology team, and securing seed funds for new product developments. Prior to that, they gained valuable experience as a Nano fabrication researcher at Applied Nanotools. Ashok began their career as a Graduate research assistant at the University of Alberta, where they focused on the design, simulation, fabrication, and characterization of SOI-based microring filter architectures. Ashok Prabhu also served as a Lab Instructor and Teaching Assistant, guiding undergraduate students and managing teaching assistants. Before their research and teaching roles, Ashok worked at the Institute for Infocomm Research as a Member Technical Staff and Research Assistant, conducting research on millimeter wave sources and RF signal transmission over fiber links. Ashok Prabhu'searly professional experience includes working at Wipro as an Engineer in VLSI/System design, where they were involved in the design of a Static memory controller IP core and high-speed digital and mixed-signal circuits for video conferencing systems.

Ashok Prabhu Masilamani pursued their education in a sequential manner, beginning with their enrollment at SSi IT Education in 1997-1998, where they obtained a Diploma in Client Server Computing. Following this, from 1996 to 2000, they attended Madras Institute of Technology and earned a Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering. Subsequently, they pursued a Master's degree in Research in Fiber Optics from the National University of Singapore, completing their studies from 2003 to 2006. Finally, they proceeded to the University of Alberta, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Nanophotonics from 2006 to 2011.

Noze

Noze (formerly known as Stratuscent) is the global leader in digital smell detection. Using technology built on a foundation of NASA-patented innovations deployed on the International Space Station, Noze created the world’s first and only digital nose that can detect, identify and interpret odors in everyday environments with incredible accuracy. This creates groundbreaking opportunities across multiple sectors and industries, where digital olfaction has high-value applications ranging from medical diagnostics and food manufacture & storage to public safety, air intelligence, and smart consumer electronics. Our platform is an end-to-end solution that combines a neural network-based AI engine with a cutting-edge digital olfaction sensor based on exclusive NASA patents. The sensor decodes the environment as a whole, isolating signal from background scent noise and creating a unique ‘scentprint’ for each individual chemical (VOC), chemical mixture, or smell. The AI engine decodes data from the sensor to identify exactly what is in the air, in what quantity, and how it’s evolving. This continuous real-time analysis enables scent recognition in under a second with incredible accuracy. And each time the AI engine learns a new smell, every sensor in the world learns it too. Our APIs can be seamlessly integrated with new or existing user interfaces (UIs), enabling real-time access to data, analytics, and alerts. Meanwhile, a secure and encrypted communication protocol protects all the data flows within our platform and its ecosystem.
