Assay Engineer at nplex biosciences

Andrew Tan has a diverse work experience in various research and engineering roles. Andrew currently works as an Assay Engineer at Nomic Bio since January 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Biomaterials Engineer at Opalia from August 2021 to December 2021. Andrew also served as a Graduate Researcher at the Juncker Lab (Micro- & Nanobioengineering) in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at McGill University from September 2018 to July 2021, where they focused on spatially-resolved multiplexed secretomics of living cells and tissues. Before that, Andrew worked as a Graduate Researcher at the Wu Lab (Microfluidics Group) in the Department of Chemistry at HKUST from September 2016 to August 2018, where they worked on torque-driven, 3D-printed microfluidic point-of-care diagnostics devices. Andrew also gained experience as an Undergraduate Researcher at the Microfluidics and Soft Matter Group in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at HKU from September 2015 to June 2016, where they focused on droplet-based microfluidics for high-throughput screening of catalytic DNA aptamers. Lastly, Andrew worked as a Visiting Research Intern at the Chew Lab in the School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at NTU in June 2015, where they worked on electrospun nanofibers for the release of microRNAs for cell fate determination of neural stem cells.

Andrew Tan has a diverse education history. Andrew completed their PhD in Biological and Biomedical Engineering at McGill University from 2018 to 2021. Prior to that, they obtained an MPhil in Bioengineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from 2016 to 2018. Their undergraduate studies were conducted at The University of Hong Kong from 2012 to 2016, where they earned a BEng in Medical Engineering with a minor in Biochemistry. In 2014, they participated in the College of Engineering Global Educational Exchange (GLOBEX) program at Peking University. Before entering university, Andrew Tan attended Taylor's College from 2011 to 2012, where they completed their Cambridge GCE Advanced Levels.
