Cheryl W. Thompson is an accomplished investigative journalist and educator with a robust career spanning over two decades. Currently serving as an Investigative Correspondent and Senior Editor for Member Station Investigations at NPR since February 2019, Thompson also holds the position of Associate Professor at The George Washington University School of Media and Public Affairs since August 2013. Prior to these roles, Thompson worked at The Washington Post for over 21 years in various capacities including Investigative Reporter and Justice Department/White House/Criminal Justice/Immigration Reporter. Thompson began her journalism career as an Investigative Reporter at The Kansas City Star from July 1993 to November 1996. Academic credentials include an M.S. in Journalism and a B.A. in Speech Communication, both from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
