Neela Banerjee

Chief Climate Editor

Neela Banerjee serves as the Chief Climate Editor for NPR since April 2020, overseeing a team of ten and steering the organization’s climate coverage. Previously, Banerjee held the position of Deputy Chief Climate Editor at NPR and was a Senior Reporter at InsideClimate News, where their investigative work uncovered Exxon’s early climate change research. Prior experience includes roles as an Energy and Environment Reporter for the Los Angeles Times, a National Religion and Ethics Reporter for The New York Times, and as a Russia Correspondent for The Wall Street Journal. Banerjee's educational background includes a degree from Yale University, completed between 1982 and 1986.
