Susan Jacobson Leland is a seasoned research professional with extensive experience in audience insights and marketing research. Currently serving as the Director of Audience Insights at NPR since February 2011, Leland oversees research functions that support corporate sponsorship, business development, and marketing, with a focus on sponsorship effectiveness and emerging platforms. Prior to NPR, Leland provided consulting services as a Marketing Research Consultant from 2002 to 2011, and held managerial roles at Discovery Communications, Inc. and Lieberman Research Worldwide, where responsibilities included market analysis and consumer research project management. Leland holds a Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Marketing from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo.
