Maria Petrou

Maria Petrou is an accomplished professional in the public sector with extensive experience in leadership roles. Currently serving as the Acting Director at the NSW Department of Communities and Justice and simultaneously holding positions as a Senior Executive Officer at both the Office of the Women’s Safety Commissioner and the Office of the Anti-Slavery Commissioner, Maria has demonstrated a commitment to community safety and welfare. Prior to these roles, Maria was a Senior Executive Officer at the Ageing and Disability Commission. Maria holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from UNSW and is currently pursuing a Masters in Executive Masters Public Administration at the University of Sydney, expected to be completed in December 2024.
