Justin Hattendorf

Justin Hattendorf has a diverse work experience in the fields of product design, computational design, architectural design, and research. Justin is currently the Director of Product Design at nTop, where they lead a team of Product Designers and UX developers. Justin is responsible for company-wide initiatives in user experience design, interface design, experience architecture, and user research. Prior to this role, they worked as a Product Design Manager and a Product Designer, focusing on user experience design for nTop Platform.

In addition to their work at nTop, Justin is also a Co-Founder and Designer at JAW Studio, a 3D printed jewelry line based in Brooklyn. The jewelry pieces are made-to-order using sustainable methods and have been featured in various fashion editorials.

Before joining nTop and starting JAW Studio, Justin worked at Mode Lab as a Computational Designer, where they were involved in the design, research, development, and implementation of generative design strategies for various applications such as footwear, sports equipment, and facade design.

Justin also has experience as an Architectural Designer at Hume Coover Studio, where they led a design team in completing international design competitions and contributed to the publication of an essay in an architectural design theory journal.

Justin's early work experience includes roles as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at the Center for Experimental Structures, where they worked on morphology research and participated in the construction of fabric minimal surface prototypes and sculptural mock-ups. Justin also had a Design Internship at Haresh Lalvani Studio, where they worked on 3D design and model making for sheet metal sculptures in NYC.

Additionally, Justin has freelanced as an Architectural Designer for various architecture firms in NYC, working on built projects both locally and internationally, including residential renovations, commercial interiors, and ground-up construction.
