Brett Barker

Brett Barker has a diverse work experience, spanning various roles and industries. Brett is currently working as a Senior Policy Advisor at the Iowa Pharmacy Association since January 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Mayor of the City of Nevada from January 2018. Brett also held the position of City Council - At Large from January 2016 to January 2018.

Earlier in their career, Brett worked as a Pharmacy Intern at Walgreens from November 2001 to December 2007. Brett also held the position of Assistant Coordinator for Office of Admissions Tour Guide Program at the University of Iowa from April 2002 to May 2007. Overall, Brett has a strong background in pharmacy, policy advisory, leadership, and public service.

Brett Barker's education history begins in 1998 when they attended Lecanto High School for one year. Brett then transferred to J.D. Darnall Geneseo High School from 1999 to 2002. After completing high school, Brett attended the University of Iowa from 2002 to 2008, where they earned a PharmD degree in Pharmacy.

Additionally, Brett has obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 2008, they received the Immunization Administration certification, although the institution is not mentioned. In 2011, they obtained the Delivering Medication Therapy Management in the Community certification from the American Pharmacists Association and American Society of Consultant Pharmacists. In 2012, they became a certified Freedom from Smoking Facilitator through the American Lung Association. Furthermore, Brett received the Pharmacy Based Point-of-Care Testing and Certified Trainer certification from the National Association of Chain Drug Stores in 2015. Most recently, in 2022 and 2023, they obtained the Diplomat certification from the AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR PHARMACY LAW and The Pharmacist & Patient Centered Diabetes Care certification from the American Pharmacists Association, respectively.
