Suzy Sterner

Suzy Sterner is the senior vice president of government relations and communications for BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT). She is responsible for developing and executing strategic engagement with federal and state governments, trade associations and think tanks. In addition to government relations, she also leads corporate communications and public relations, thereby aligning these strategic functions to promote and enhance the corporate brand.

Ms. Sterner has more than 30 years of leadership experience in various industries, including public affairs, space, defense and aviation. Before joining BWXT, she served as a senior director of congressional relations for Northrup Grumman. Prior to that, she held executive roles of increasing responsibility in government relations. Her experience also includes marketing, communications and public relations.

Ms. Sterner earned a bachelor’s degree in international politics and economics from Middlebury College and a master’s degree in management from the University of Maryland Global Campus. She is on the Advisory Council of The Women in Leadership Executive Program at The George Washington University School of Business, a founding member of the Washington, D.C. chapter of CHIEF, and a current member and past president of both Women in Aerospace and the National Space Club. She is also a musician with the National Concert Band of America.
