Julia Zhao

Julia Nanyi Zhao, PhD, currently serves as the Global Director of Activator Operations at Nucleate, starting in October 2023, and as a Senior Advisor and Co Managing Director at Nucleate New York since August 2021. In their role at Nucleate, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering academics to create life science startups, Julia supports initiatives that address critical challenges in health and sustainability. Previously, Julia held the position of Director of Expert Relations at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai from August 2017 to June 2023, focusing on hepatocellular carcinoma 3D organoids research. Additional experience includes roles as an Investment Analyst at Catalio Capital Management and a Senior Research Technician at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Julia received a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a Bachelor's Degree in Neuroscience and French Cultural Studies from The Johns Hopkins University.
