The company’s core technology is the Nuro Driver, an integrated autonomous driving system consisting of state-of-the-art, AI-first software and custom-built sense and compute hardware. The first commercial application of the Nuro Driver is autonomous goods delivery with our custom, electric, zero-occupant vehicles in partnership with some of the most recognized brands in the world including Uber and FedEx.

About the Work

  • Create requirements for the behavior of an autonomous system to operate safely within specific contexts in our ODD.
  • Implement metrics and behavior models in Python to verify that the autonomous system is meeting these safety requirements.
  • Propose tests to verify requirements using a combination of synthetic simulation, on-road logs, and closed-course testing.
  • Quantify coverage of the tests for our ODD, ensuring simulation realism and relevance for deployment.
  • Work closely with Behavior, Perception, Data Science, and Product while developing acceptance criteria for metrics and tests.
  • Partner with simulation infrastructure and test integration teams to set up automated verification workflows.

About You

  • Deep understanding of how robotic systems work and ability to leverage this knowledge to build requirements and tests for autonomous vehicles.. 
  • Experience creating behavior requirements for SAE L2/L3/L4 systems to operate safely
  • Hands on experience in systems engineering
  • Ability to read code in C++ and write code in Python
  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and written
  • 5+ years of technical work experience in a relevant area, of which 3+ years should be in robotics SW

Bonus Points

  • AV background. Can be any autonomous vehicle not just terrestrial, we have had successful candidates from aerial vehicles, flying cars, autonomous boats, spacecraft, rovers, etc.
  • Hands on coding day-to-day
  • Familiarity with safety standards such as STPA, ISO-21448, ISO-26262

 

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected pay range is between $167,200 and $250,800 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
