About the Role

Nuro is at the forefront of AI-first autonomy development and validation. The Data Platform team plays a crucial role in realizing this vision by providing end-to-end data and metrics management, enabling our engineering teams to develop, test, and refine autonomous technologies more efficiently and effectively.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Tech Lead Manager (TLM) to lead a sub-team within the Data Platform group, with a focus on metadata management and evaluation infrastructure. This position involves leading the development and enhancement of our metadata systems and evaluation frameworks to support and accelerate autonomy feature development and contribute to our long-term progress in autonomy technologies. The team works closely with other teams within the Data Platform group and across Nuro, including simulation, autonomy, ML platform and system & safety teams, to ensure seamless integration and utilization of the metadata and evaluation frameworks.

About the Work

  • Drive the advancement of our metadata management systems, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and capable of supporting rapid feature development and validation.
  • Lead and execute coherent strategy to integrate other services or applications to metadata service, manage data movements via ETL pipelines in and out metadata service
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and direction of the Data Platform team, particularly in areas related to metadata management and evaluation infrastructure. Ensure alignment with Nuro’s overall objectives for autonomy development and validation.
  • Maintain a high standard of technical excellence within the team. Stay abreast of the latest trends and advancements in data management, metadata systems, and evaluation methodologies relevant to AI and autonomy.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and developers. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.

About You

  • Domain experience: Experience working with large scale data and building scalable & reliable systems / data pipelines; ability to understand and design complex systems
  • Engineering leadership: Experience setting team or project product and technical vision, timelines and prioritization; Clear and concise communicator who collaborates effectively with PMs, engineers, and other stakeholders
  • People Management: Experience managing and mentoring junior and senior engineers, supporting team and engineer growth; experience working with other stakeholders to inform team's direction; strong communication skills
  • Technical excellence: Ability and willingness to deep dive into implementation, driving technical standards and best practices across broader software organization; strong proficiency in Python, C++ or similar languages
  • You possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected pay range is between $202,350 and $303,050/year for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
