Michael Hoarty has had a varied work experience. From 2011 to 2020, they worked at Coraddi Arts and Literature Magazine as a Managing Editor, Video Contact as a Writer and Assistant, Trunk Club as a Customer Service Representative, Kaylie Jones Books as a Director of Public Relations and Editor, and Nurture Life as a Customer Team Lead and Customer Service Team Lead. At Coraddi Arts and Literature Magazine, they managed a team of editors to enlist writers for the magazine and collaborated with the team to determine content of submissions. At Video Contact, they wrote and transcribed commercials that aired in the South East, built and maintained relationships with clients, and managed and maintained equipment for shoots. At Trunk Club, they responded to customer needs via chat, phone calls, and email and coordinated with stylists to ensure they were providing the best experience for customers. At Kaylie Jones Books, they planned and promoted events for upcoming book launches, read through incoming manuscripts alongside other editors, and edited accepted manuscripts to assist in grammar and storytelling. Lastly, at Nurture Life, they assisted in the training of employees, responded to customer escalations to provide them assurance in service, and reported to the manager and owners regarding growth, retention, sales, and setbacks.
Michael Hoarty obtained their Bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2014, majoring in Literature. Michael then went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in Creative Writing, Fiction, and Teaching from Wilkes University in 2019.
