Clayton Scott

EVP, Business Development at NuScale Power

Clayton Scott leads the commercial global business development activities, including the sales, and marketing and communication functions of NuScale’s products and services in the U.S. and abroad. Scott joined NuScale in 2022 with an extensive business development background and 40+ years of professional experience in the nuclear sector, including in business development, construction management, and the startup and operation of nuclear power plants.

Prior to NuScale, Scott was Senior Vice President – Global Sales, Deputy Director, I&C Business at Framatome, where he managed a worldwide staff of over 2,000 people with offices in North America, Europe/MENA, and Asia. This role included the oversight of all business development, sales, proposal generation, contracts, project management, and delivery activities for domestic and international nuclear clients for both greenfield and retrofit market segments. Prior to that, Scott was the Senior Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer for Schneider Electric where he was responsible for the company’s global nuclear organization with offices and facilities around the world. Scott also served as the Vice President of Invensys’ nuclear business in North America. Before joining Invensys, he was President of CRS Engineering, a multi-disciplinary engineering and design consulting firm.

Scott is an active member of various industry committees, including an appointment to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as chair of a taskforce on harmonizing digital licensing issues globally, and the University of Tennessee Advisory Board.

Scott earned his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of California, Irvine, and began his career with Ontario Hydro (now Ontario Power Generation), where he was involved in the commissioning and start-up of CANDU units at the Pickering Nuclear Power Station in Ontario, Canada, and subsequently with Southern California Edison at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station in California.
