Wayne Dean Smith

Wayne Dean Smith, Jr. has over two decades of experience in code compliance, plans review, and operations management. Wayne Dean started their career in 1997 as the Head of Plans Review at the Osceola County Building Department, where they managed a team of 10 reviewers and ensured compliance with regulatory requirements. In 2000, they joined M.T. Causley, Inc. as a Plans Examiner, responsible for conducting plans review for both commercial and residential projects. Two years later, they joined Bureau Veritas as the Operation Manager for Florida, overseeing the Code Compliance Division and teaching LEED internationally on behalf of the company. In 2014, they became the Vice President of Code Compliance - SE US at NV5, leading a team of inspectors and working on new construction projects in the Southwest Florida area. Wayne Dean Smith, Jr. is known for their expertise in code compliance, plans review, and their involvement in the Green Tribe and Fire Tribe.

Wayne Dean Smith, Jr. pursued their education in engineering, beginning with a period of study at the University of South Florida from 1984 to 1986. Wayne Dean then moved on to Cornell University, where they specialized in Mechanical Aerospace and obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering from 1986 to 1988.
