Eric Beerkens

Eric Beerkens has extensive experience in international programmes and academic affairs within research and higher education sectors. Currently serving as the Head of International Programmes at NWO (Dutch Research Council) since November 2017, Eric leads the WOTRO team and plays key roles in various committees and funds, including the Merian Fund and Science Diplomacy Fund. Previously, Eric was a Senior Advisor for International Affairs at Leiden University and held leadership positions at Nuffic, overseeing studies and platforms. Additionally, Eric has research experience as a Sesqui Research Fellow at the University of Sydney and as a Research Associate at the University of Twente. Eric holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration & Public Policy from the University of Twente and an MA in Environmental Planning from the University of Groningen.
