Kevin Oerton has been in the tech industry for over 25 years. Kevin began their career in 1993 as Director of Product Management & Technology Marketing at ATI Technologies Inc. During their time there, they were pivotal in creating and implementing selling strategies and presentations to achieve OEM design wins from Dell, Compaq, IBM, and Apple. Kevin also directed the graphics product management team responsible for defining product strategy and product roadmap for growth and success in the highly competitive 3D graphics marketplace.
In 2001, Kevin moved to VideoLocus Inc. as Vice-President of Marketing & Business Development. There, they were recruited with a mandate to heighten credibility in the competitive H. 264 video compression sector, strengthen the brand, and build powerful customer reach. Kevin also steered the video compression start-up company through strategic planning and product definition uncovering the market strategy for a high profile and crucial $20 million semiconductor project.
In 2004, Kevin joined BlackBerry as Director of WiFi Program. Kevin was appointed to this new position after the executive team uncovered WiFi as a major priority requiring strong, firm, and robust leadership. Kevin instigated significant business and cultural change across multiple functional R&D business units, gaining support for high impact changes and overcoming adversity and obstacles. Kevin also built synergy, collaboration, and encouraged open dialogue across the BlackBerry enterprise customer base in order to shift wireless carrier fear and scepticism of WiFi into positive reaction.
In 2016, Kevin founded Time To Design as Product Chief. Two years later, they joined NXM Labs, Inc. as Chief Product Officer and Vice President of IoT Platform.
In addition to their tech career, Kevin has been Co-Owner of Andrea Hylton Home since 2012.
Kevin Oerton received their MBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University between 1996 and 1998. Kevin also earned a B.A.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo between 1985 and 1990.
