Shailu Gargeya

Shailu Gargeya has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several decades. Shailu started their career as a Management Trainee - Computer Systems at Vishakhapatnam Steel Plant, where they worked on various projects involving inventory, personnel, and payroll packages.

From there, they moved on to BSO/Tasking as a Senior Software Engineer, where they gained valuable experience in software development. Shailu then joined Mercury Computer Systems as a Principal Software Engineer, further enhancing their skills in this field.

In 1998, Shailu joined Sun Microsystems as a Staff Engineer, Chief of Staff, Software Engineering Manager. During their tenure, they served as the technical lead for the Prism parallel debugger project and managed a team of HPC development engineers in Bangalore, India. Shailu also played a role in developing core components of the HPC ClusterTools and served as the Staff Operations Officer for Enterprise Server Platform OS Software.

After leaving Sun Microsystems, Shailu briefly worked at Oracle Corporation as a Sr. Software Engineering Manager before joining the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. At the Broad Institute, they served as the Assistant Director, Microbial Informatics and managed a team of dedicated software engineers. Shailu also worked closely with biologists and engineers to develop scientific software for high-throughput genetic analyses.

In 2014, Shailu joined the New York Genome Center as Sr. Director Software Engineering. In this role, they built a software development team and worked on improving software and business processes to handle the increasing scale and rapidly-diversifying data product portfolio. Shailu also collaborated with several medical institutions to build a federated clinical data warehouse for their patients.

Shailu Gargeya obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Chicago, from 1985 to 1987. Prior to that, from 1976 to 1982, Shailu pursued a Master's degree in Electronics at Abu Rayhon Beruniy Nomidagi Toshkent Davlat Texnika Universiteti. Earlier, from 1972 to 1976, Shailu attended Higher Secondary School, Sector X, Bhilai, but the specific degree and field of study attained during this time are not provided.
