Carolyn Ryan

Deputy Managing Editor, News Talent and Staffing at The New York Times

Carolyn Ryan is a veteran journalist who currently serves as the Deputy Managing Editor, News Talent and Staffing at The New York Times. Carolyn previously worked as the Metro Editor at the Boston Globe, where they oversaw more than 100 staffers and was responsible for some of the biggest stories to come out of Boston during their tenure, including the 2004 Democratic National Convention and the Red Sox's first World Series victory in 86 years. Ryan is known for their dedication to finding and nurturing new talent, with a particular emphasis on diversity, and has helped shape the careers of many young reporters.

Carolyn Ryan earned their bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Bates College.
