Joel Wolfram

Joel Wolfram is an accomplished communications writer and reporter with extensive experience in journalism and media production. Currently serving as a Communications Writer for the Pennsylvania Prison Society since April 2020, Joel engages audiences on issues affecting Pennsylvania prisons through various content forms, including newsletters and press releases. As a Reporter for The New York Times since January 2022, Joel covers news in the Philadelphia region. Additionally, Joel works as an Associate Producer for NPR’s "Fresh Air with Terry Gross," contributing to nearly 90 long-form interviews and producing news stories for multiple platforms, including WHYY and NPR newscasts. Joel's freelance work has been featured in several notable publications, and previous roles include a Senior Producer position at Insider and a Podcast Producer for Lower Street. Joel holds a Master of Arts in Journalism from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY and a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Middlebury College.
