Dominique Leitner

Dominique Leitner, Ph.D., is a Senior Research Scientist at NYU Langone Health, focusing on the mechanisms of disease in Alzheimer’s disease, neurodegenerative disorders, epilepsy, COVID-19, and sudden unexplained death in childhood (SUDC). Prior experience includes positions as a Research Scientist at NYU Langone Health, where investigations related to seizures and their implications for SUDEP and SUDC were conducted, and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Mount Sinai Hospital, specializing in regenerative therapies for Parkinson’s disease. Education includes a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from the University of Arizona. Early career work included a fellowship at the National Institutes of Health and a research assistant role at the University of Arizona, contributing to advancements in ion channel research and GABA receptor identification, respectively.
