Shanti Escalante

Shanti Escalante is an experienced writer and editor currently serving as a Junior Staff Writer for ARTnews and a Freelance Contributor for Interview Magazine since January 2020. At Interview, Shanti has pitched, conducted, and edited interviews, along with writing reviews and assisting senior editors. Additionally, Shanti has worked as a Freelance Writer since June 2020, contributing to several publications including The Drunken Canal, i-D, The Believer, and The Rumpus. Shanti held multiple editorial roles at New York University Gallatin School of Individualized Study, including Editor-in-Chief and Executive Editor of the multi-disciplinary research journal Compass, where leadership and team management were key responsibilities. With a strong background in research and editorial internships across various organizations, Shanti has developed a diverse skill set in writing, editing, and research within the fields of art and environmental humanities. Shanti holds a degree in Anthropology, Environmental Humanities, Nonfiction Writing, and Writing from New York University Gallatin School of Individualized Study.
